Cosmetic Surgery FAQs Chicago IL

What is oculofacial surgery?
It is plastic and/or reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, forehead and upper facial areas and is a highly specialized surgical field and is a specialty of ophthalmology.
I want to have my eyes “done.” Why do I need an Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon like Dr. Tresley?
In addition to a one-year internship and three-year residency in ophthalmology, Dr. Tresley has completed an intensive one-year fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. He is also a Clinical Instructor of Oculoplastic Surgery at Northwestern University. In other words, he’s highly specialized and has the experience to make the difference between satisfactory and phenomenal results.
Will insurance pay for my eyelid surgery?
If the eyelids interfere with visual function, insurance carriers will sometimes cover a portion of the upper eyelid surgery. Each insurance carrier has specific criteria. We will provide the supporting documentation if your condition warrants it.
What type of anesthesia will be used?
This depends both upon the patient and the type of surgery being performed. Typically, oral sedation or intravenous sedation is used because patients awaken more readily and have fewer side effects than with a general anesthetic.
Do men have cosmetic eyelid surgery?
More men are undergoing cosmetic Blepharoplasty than ever before. The need to maintain a more youthful appearance overall, as well as in business, has led to this increase. Quite simply, there’s really no stigma for men or women anymore.
Besides Upper and Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty, what other types of cosmetic oculofacial surgery does Dr. Tresley perform?
Dr. Tresley does Endoscopic Forehead/Brow Elevations to eliminate hooded eyes and help you achieve a more youthful, refreshed look when an eyelid lift alone won’t accomplish the desired results. He can also do a SOOF Lift in conjunction with a Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty. When the fat pad of the cheek has descended with the aging process, it can be isolated and elevated by restoring it to the bony rim under the eye.
I have dark circles under my eyes. Is there another solution besides surgery?
Dr. Tresley is uniquely qualified to address this problem using facial fillers such as Restylane®, Juvéderm™, and Radiesse®. The results are instant and can last up to a year. The cheek-bone can also be enhanced with these fillers.
I’ve heard a lot about different facial fillers. How do I know what’s right for me?
Facial fillers such as Restylane®, Juvéderm™, and Radiesse® are used depending on the issue as well as the desired duration of the effect. With Dr. Tresley’s training as an Oculofacial Plastic Surgeon, and sense of esthetics, you’re getting the fine-tuned skill and pinpoint accuracy of a specialist.
