Caring for your Skin after Laser Resurfacing

Laser Hyperpigmentation

One of the best things you can do for your skin is to give it the extra TLC it needs. This can be done on a daily basis with gentle products and techniques, and it may also include the periodic professional treatment. Lasers have paved the way for men and women to address a host of concerns, including wrinkles, scares, laxity, and hyperpigmentation. If you are considering one of our safe, effective laser procedures, you will want to know how to pamper your skin to achieve maximum rejuvenation.

What to Expect after Laser Skin Treatment

In the days that follow laser treatment, mild redness and swelling should be expected. The degree to which these conditions develop depend on the aggressiveness of the laser procedure. There is also the matter of aftercare and your own body’s innate tendency to heal. Sometimes, the response to a lighter treatment may be more intense, and the response to a deeper treatment not so intense. It’s all personal reaction. Our goal is to provide you with the full extent of information you need so you have a good idea what to expect. Additionally, we offer tips for skin care after resurfacing treatment. With proper care, effects like itching, peeling, and dryness can be minimized.

  • Sun protection. The American Academy of Dermatology encourages us all to wear sunscreen on a daily basis. The need for UV protection becomes even greater after laser treatment, when the skin is naturally more sensitive. At this time, a broad-spectrum sunscreen is ideal, with an SPF of 30 or higher. Broad-spectrum sunscreen protects you against UVA and UVB rays, both of which can cause photoaging. In addition to sunscreen, it is advisable to wear a protective hat if you cannot avoid direct sunlight.
  • Skin care. The products that you use to cleanse and moisturize your skin after laser treatment should be formulated with the gentlest ingredients. All-natural does not necessarily mean that a product is suited to your needs at this time.
  • Your skin is going to flake or peel after laser skin resurfacing, this is virtually impossible to avoid and is, in fact, the goal. While we want dead, damaged cells to fall away, we do not want to dry out your skin. Moisturizer will need to be applied quite often while you are healing. We recommend our Post Laser Recovery Ointment.

We are here to help you look and feel your best. Call 847-291-6900 to see how.

How to Get a Smoother Forehead in No Time

Looking into the mirror to see an array of forehead wrinkles smiling back at you is enough to cause anyone to have a panic attack. If you are starting to notice that your forehead wrinkles are more than you remember, it’s time to take matters into your own hands and zap them before they only get worse. Read on to learn more about how you can get a smoother forehead in no time.

Botox
facial fillersWhy is Botox so popular among men and women? Because it will temporarily get rid of your forehead wrinkles for around 3-4 months depending on your age, skin type, and other factors. By essentially paralyzing the muscles that Botox is injected into, patients receive the virtually flawless appearance of a smooth forehead without any of those nasty wrinkles in sight. After your Botox injections, you will likely start to see the full Botox results within about a week.

Dysport
As Botox’s competitor, Dysport is also a neurotoxin that helps to relax the muscles in the forehead and around the eyes. A treatment that is shown to be equally as effective as Botox.

Retinol
Both the prescription topical cream and the over-the counter creams are ideal to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles all over your face, including your forehead area. Once prescribed by your doctor, simply apply the retinol cream across your forehead, both morning and night or as recommended. Due to its complex chemical components, you will likely experience some skin peeling after a few weeks of using retinol consistently. However, this is just a sign that it’s working, so don’t discontinue using it. To help add moisture back into your skin, try applying a face cream over the Retinol. Also, be sure to avoid direct contact with the sun when using retinol because it can cause you to burn more easily.

Although there are several ways to help decrease the appearance of forehead wrinkles, these three solutions are proven to be some of the most effective. To learn more about how you can get a smoother forehead with less wrinkles, contact Dr. Tresley’s office today and schedule an appointment! Be sure to ask Dr. Tresley about our private labeled, pharmaceutical grade Retinal.

Bring Back Your Youthful Glow with Fillers!

There truly is no stopping the clock from ticking and adding another second to our age, yet thinking about how aging affects our skin can be too difficult to accept. Talk about the fine lines, wrinkles, and the deep skin folds that start to embed on our faces sooner or later! Good thing there are skin care treatments that can effectively eliminate such imperfections in just a snap, restoring one’s youthful, flawless skin.

dermal fillersYouth in the tip of the needle!

Dermal fillers are dermcare treatments that a lot of patients have already tried and commended. Not only are they known to eliminate facial lines caused by aging, but they are also able to restore lost volume in the face. Over time, the face can lose subcutaneous fat, causing the facial muscles to work much closer to the skin. With this, crow’s feet and fine lines start to become more noticeable.

While other factors such as lifestyle, heredity, and sun exposure can also contribute to the aged look of the skin, dermal fillers also work to counter this unwanted effect. Aside from being able to soften wrinkles and facial creases, fillers can enhance shallow contours in the face, plump thin lips, and improve noticeable scars.

Which dermal filler is right for you?

There are a lot of dermal filler types, depending on the skin condition at hand. They also differ in the longevity of results, chemical make-up, and degrees of softness. For instance, softer fillers will be used in plumping the lips, while sturdier fillers are utilized to improve the contour of cheekbones.

Before undergoing a dermal filler treatment, you will have an initial consultation with Dr. Tresley’s team, where we will determine the best type and volume of dermal filler will be able to address your concern. A lot of patients prefer “off-the-shelf” fillers, as they are simple, quick, and easy solutions to particular skin imperfections.

Dermal fillers do not only restore the vibrance and youthfulness of the skin, but they also give patients a boost in their esteem and self-confidence — and these are two elements that truly define beauty. Call us today at 847-291-6900 to schedule a consultation and determine which filler is perfect for you!

How Juvederm Works

JuvedermAside from providing cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, Dr. Tresley and the rest of the staff at our Chicago practice are top-notch injectable providers. An increasing number of our patients are seeking injectables to restore their youthful glow without the downtime and higher costs of surgery.

Amongst facial fillers, Juvederm is one of the most popular. What are the best uses of Juvederm?

The skin’s youthful plump or firmness can be partly attributed to the abundance of a naturally occurring substance in the body called hyaluronic acid. As we age, the supply of hyaluronic acid decreases resulting in the formation of wrinkles, creases, and folds. This is where Juvederm, which is made of hyaluronic acid, comes in.

Juvederm injections help the skin replenish its supply of hyaluronic acid. Unsightly wrinkles are smoothed out with restored skin volume. Nasolabial folds, the lines and folds from the cheeks to the upper lip, respond very well to Juvederm. Moreover, Juvederm treatments can also be used to improve lip volume, cheek contours, and fill in hollows between the lower eyelids and cheeks. The plumping effects of Juvederm last from six months to a year. Plus, its effects can be extended with repeated treatments.

Get in touch with Dr. Tresley today and let’s discuss if Juvederm is right for you. Call 847.291.6900 to set up an appointment.
