Got Botox? How to Properly Care for Your Skin

older-woman-in-whiteIf you have recently undergone some Botox treatment in order to help fill in those pesky fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes and forehead, then you might be wondering “What’s Next?” In order to get the best results out of your Botox and to eliminate any side-effects, try the following tips and tricks.

  1. Don’t Massage

Avoid touching, rubbing, and massaging the area injected with Botox for at least 24 hours.  Rubbing can cause the Botox to move to other areas that were not intended to be treated.

  1. Ice It

If you have exceptionally sensitive skin or are easily prone to bruising, then you might want to consider icing your forehead or eyes a few hours after you receive Botox. By icing the area around the injection site, you are preventing any inflammation from occurring and are in turn, speeding up the overall recovery process. Plus, icing can sometimes reduce the signs of bruising that may arise.

  1. Add a Cooling Cream

If your forehead or eyes are feeling exceptionally sore after your Botox injections, try icing first and then add a nice topical cooling cream or gel over the top of your skin. The cooling gel will help to lessen any uncomfortable symptoms you might be experiencing and will help you to feel your normal self more quickly. Just make sure you choose a cooling cream or gel that is specifically meant for your face and that can be used around your eyes.

  1. When to Call the Doctor

If you are suffering from extreme swelling, pain, discomfort, or any sort of rash after you receive Botox, you are likely having an allergic reaction. Make sure you contact your doctor right away if any of these symptoms persist or worsen. If your doctor’s office is closed and you are worried about the reaction you are having, visit your local emergency room or urgent care facility.

Botox is the most popular tool on the market that is used to help target fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead. However, if you are experiencing slight bruising or swelling, you can try the above tips to get your skin looking back to normal.
